Why does the tea saponin use in agriculture?

Tea Saponin is a kind of natural glycoside compound extracted from the seeds of theaceae plants (such as Tea, camellia and camellia oleifera). It is a pentacyclic triterpenoid Tea Saponin, which is composed of seven Sapgening ligands (C30H6O6), four glycosides (Aglyevn) and two organic acids. It can be regarded as a kind of natural non-ionic surfactant with excellent performance.

Tea saponin not only has good emulsification, foaming, dispersion, penetration, wetting and other activities, and is almost not affected by water hardness. In addition, but also has anti-inflammatory, analgesia, sterilization, antipruritic effect. Pentacyclic triterpenoids are used in traditional medicine as anti-inflammatory drugs, and tea saponin can treat some skin diseases due to antibacterial activity. Studies have shown that tea saponin has certain hemolytic, anti-insect sterilization, anti-seepage, anti-inflammatory, phlegm-relieving cough, analgesia, anti-cancer and other pharmacological functions, in addition to disinfection and promoting plant growth. Tea saponin has been used in various fields since it was first isolated in 1931.

Affinity – wettability

Wettability is one of the main technical indexes of pesticide wetting agents and the main quality standard of wettable pesticides. The wettability of tea saponin was tested with a stone wax plate and contact Angle tester. The results showed that tea saponin had wettability, which was related to concentration. With the increase of tea saponin content in the solution, the value of 0 gradually decreases. When the concentration reaches a certain level, the value of 0 no longer decreases. The relationship between the two is shown in Figure 1. When the concentration is about 1%, 0 drops to 90~ below, belonging to impregnation and wetting. In the range of 0 001% ~ 10%, 0 is negatively correlated with the logarithm of concentration, Y=90.81115 — 5 897x, r=-0.98042. On this basis, the wettability of tea saponin was better than that of tea saponin according to the determination of wettability rate used in pesticide analysis.

Surface activity of tea saponin

The surface tension of tea saponin aqueous solution was measured by pull film method. Tea saponin can significantly reduce the surface tension of the liquid, indicating that it has surface activity. Its effect is related to the concentration of tea saponin solution. When the concentration was in the range of 0.001%-1.00%, the surface tension decreased gradually from 76.85Mn /m to 46.735Mn /m, and the surface tension of tea saponin aqueous solution was the lowest in the region of 0.5%. After the concentration of tea saponin increased, the surface tension no longer decreased but increased.

The change of surfactant in solution is related to the two groups on the molecular structure. When the concentration of active material is too low to cover the surface with a surfactant, the surface tension decreases but does not minimize. With the increase of the concentration of the active matter bearing on the surface of the surfactant molecules, surface tension is falling, when added to the liquid surface form a layer of single-molecule film, called directional adsorption at this time, all level for surfactant hydrophobic ChengJi replaced, meet minimum surface tension, increase, the concentration of active matter surface tension is no longer falling. This kind of directional adsorption phenomenon also exists on the interface of the insoluble liquid system, reducing the interfacial tension. This is an important part of the line, the active matter concentration in the solution surface has reached saturation, cannot continue to increase, known as critical gum Cambodia concentration, use CMC said: if you continue to improve the surfactant content, will be stranded within the solution and to “glue” in Cambodia state gather in together, namely the hydrophilic group at one end to the water, the hydrophobic group gathered in one place at one end molecule is not a decentralized state: Many physical properties of the solution change significantly at the critical micelle concentration limit. Surface tension, interfacial tension, density, conductivity, and washing properties are all involved, as are osmotic pressure, freezing point drop, viscosity, ionization, solubilization, and light scattering. Strictly speaking, the critical micelle concentration of each surfactant function has a certain range, called the critical micelle concentration range.

The critical micelle concentration of tea saponin was determined by the surface tension method. The result showed that the CNC of tea saponin was about 0.5%. In order to confirm the influence of water hardness on surface activity of tea saponin, 0.5% tea saponin aqueous solution with different hardness was prepared by standard method. The hardness of water is from very soft water to very hard water. The surface tension of water is between 45 73~47.13, which is very small. It can be said that the surface activity of tea saponin is almost not affected by the hardness of the water.

Why is tea saponin used as a pesticide additive?

  • Wettable pesticide wetting agent and suspension agent

Chemical pesticides are mainly liquid and solid: since most of the active drugs of chemical pesticides are insoluble in water or very difficult to dissolve in water, solvents and emulsifiers need to be added when the active drugs are processed into liquid pesticides. When the active pesticide is processed into solid pesticide, a wetting agent should be added to make the wettable powder, which can make the active pesticide that is not dissolved in water suspended in water and play the use effect of pesticide. The higher the suspension rate of wettable solid pesticide, the better the application effect.

The application of tea saponin in wettable powder such as iprocarb, ethylphosphoaluminium and dozoazole was studied. The results showed that tea saponin, as a pesticide wetting agent, could make wettable powder have better wetting performance and greatly improve the suspension rate of pesticide. At the same time, the advantages of tea saponin as a single agent without adding other additives were more obvious. In order to ensure the stability of wettable powder pesticide produced by tea saponin wetting agent, the pH of the finished pesticide was measured. The results showed that the pH values of the finished pesticide were 6.93, 6.72 and 6.68 respectively when tea saponin was added 8%, 6.5% and 5%.

The outstanding advantages of using saponin as pesticide wetting agent are fast wetting speed and strong dispersity. PH 5.5~6.5, neutral acid, will not cause pesticide decomposition failure, conducive to the storage of pesticides. These are not comparable to synthetic surfactants.

  • Synergistic agent and spreading agent of emulsion pesticide

Because tea saponin is difficult to dissolve in emulsion pesticides and the synergistic effect of pesticides is only beneficial to the use of pesticide enterprises, not obvious.

In fact, the synergistic significance of pesticides is very large, is a directional problem. Studies have shown that tea saponin can be used in combination with methomyl, kunbuthrin, pyridonidine and other emulsifiable pesticides, and the effect is very good and the pesticide dosage can be reduced. Cotoxicity coefficient 733.1 ~ 6279.7 synergistic ratio 6.33 ~ 61.8, saving pesticide 50% ~ 75%. As for the reason that tea saponin can increase the efficiency of pesticides, it mainly reduces the surface tension of liquid medicine and the contact Angle of liquid medicine on the body surface of plants and pests, so as to improve the wet force and adhesion of liquid medicine on the surface of target body and improve the drug rescue.

  • As a co-solvent of herbicide or soluble powder pesticide

These pesticides are generally insoluble in non-polar solvents but soluble in polar solvents or water. Some of them can even be converted into salts and then soluble in water, which is a promising “environmental protection pesticide”. This kind of pesticide is a water agent or soluble powder, and the technical specification of tea saponin is particularly high. The outstanding advantage of tea saponin in this kind of pesticide is that it can improve the physical properties of the pesticide, improve the adhesion of the liquid on the surface of the target organism or plant, and improve the application effect of the pesticide. As tea saponin is a natural product, it can be automatically degraded, non-toxic and harmless, and the end product of the tea saponin separation process does not contain harmful metals, will not affect the chemical quality of pesticides, which is conducive to the storage of pesticides. These advantages are other additives that can not be compared.
